Abstract:

Background The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of L-carnitine as an antioxidant on transplantation of ovarian tissue. MaterialsAndMethods Ovaries from 6-week old mice were grafted into back muscle. Transplanted ovaries were divided into three groups. 150 mg/Kg LC (solved in normal saline) was injected intraperitoneally one hour before surgical operation and repeated one other day until 21 days. Follicular morphology and apoptosis were examined in all groups and compared to age-matched non grafted ovaries. Anti procaspase-3 antibody was used to evaluate apoptosis in all groups.9 Results Morphological analysis revealed that the number of follicles decreased in all transplanted groups in comparison with non grafted ones. The percentage of normal and degenerative follicles in all developmental stages had no significant differences. The rate of apoptosis in all groups had no significant differences9 Conclusion It seems that this concentration of LC have no effect on morphological and apoptosis of follicles in grafted ovaries. However, further studies are required for the fertilization rate of oocytes.

Effects of L-Carnitine on follicular reserve and Caspase-3 in transplanted mouse ovarian tissue

Introdution: One of the major challengs in ovarian tissue transplantation is overcomeing ischemia/ reperfusion injuries. During ischemia–reperfusion processes, oxygen free radicals constitute the most important component that induces damage of the grafted tissues. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of L-Carnitine (LC) as an antioxidant on heterotopic transplantation of mouse ov...

The effect of pentoxifylline on the stereological changes of the vitrified mouse ovarian tissue

Background and Aim: Ovarian vitrification is a technique for assisted reproductive technologies, while ovaries are vulnerable to the damage caused by the freezing procedure. Pentoxifylline has a protective effect as an antioxidant in reducing the free radicals in the culture medium. This study aimed to determine the antioxidant effects of pentoxifylline on the changes stereological vitrified ov...

Effects of Angiopoietin-2 on Transplanted Mouse Ovarian Tissue

Transplantation of ovarian tissue (OT) is currently the only clinical option to restore fertility with cryopreserved OT. However, follicle loss caused by ischemia and slow revascularization occurs in transplanted OT. To shorten the ischemic period and promote angiogenesis, some angiogenic factors have been used. Angiopoietin-2 (Ang2) is one of the major angiogenic factors and has been reported ...

Background Sample preparation is the first step in the evaluation of tissue samples. In this research tried to using two types of formalin and Bouin fixative ovarian tissue morphogenesis be evaluated practical. MaterialsAndMethods Ovaries of 6-8 week-old Naval Medical Research Institute female mice were randomly divided into 3 groups: Ι. Ovaries that immediately fixed in Bouin’s fixative; II. O...

Evaluation of L-Carnitine Effect on the Testis Tissue of Mature Male Rat Exposed with Cadmium

Purpose: The evaluation of L-Carnitine effect on the testis tissue of mature rats exposed to Cadmium. Materials and Methods: This research was carried out on 30 mature male rats, weighting about 180-240gr. Animals were divided into five groups. The first group (control group) received nothing. The second group (distilled water,0.3ml). third group (L-Carnitine 500mg/kg Body Weight). fourth group...
